The Phase 2b line forms a Y shape, split into an eastern and a western leg. The western leg will connect to the high speed lines at Crewe and run through to Manchester. The eastern leg will connect to high speed lines in the West Midlands and run through to Leeds. Services will also travel onwards to places like Glasgow, Liverpool, Preston and Wigan.

On the 6 June 2019 the government announced the launch of a Design Refinement Consultation on 11 proposed changes to the design of the HS2 Phase 2b route. These proposed changes are based on design development, environmental assessment and consideration of feedback received to recent consultations and ongoing engagement. The proposed changes only affect part of the Phase 2b route.

The consultation closes on Friday 6 September 2019.

Copies of the consultation documents are also available to view at a number of local libraries and council offices for the duration of the consultation. Find your closest information point.

We are continuing to take the feedback received into consideration as we further develop the design for the railway.

We are holding a series of public information events from 21 June to 13 July 2019 to support the consultations. Events are being held near each of the proposed changes. To support these events we have published a number of factsheets.
